Coaching Staff


David Shores, Head Coach/Athletic Director



Coach Shores comes to Pell City with a 14-9 record and a trip to the state quarterfinals, in his first 2 seasons as a Head Coach.  In his 11 year tenure as a high school coach in Alabama, Coach Shores has been a part of 2 State Championships, 1 6A Runner-Up, 3 Quarterfinal appearances, and 2 First-Round appearances... all at the 6A level.  "I have been blessed to be a part of so many great coaching staffs in this state during my brief career", says Shores.
After a beneficial stint as a walk-on player at Auburn University from 1996-1998, Shores used his last year of eligibility at Auburn to begin coaching as a Student-Assistant to Coach Bill Oliver's defensive staff.  In 1999, Shores was hired on as a Graduate Assistant on Coach Tommy Tuberville's first defensive staff.  For the following 3 seasons, Shores coached linebackers and special teams at Opelika High School for AHSAA Hall of Fame Coach Spence McCracken.  In 2002, Coach Shores joined Rush Propst's staff at Hoover High School and for the next 2 seasons, coached the defensive line.  Shores then moved to Baton Rouge in the summer of 2004 to work on Coach Saban's staff asa defensive intern, again assisting the d-line.  In 2005, Shores moved back to Birmingham to become the defensive coordinator at Pelham High School, under first year head coach, Brett Burnett.  Shores' efforts helped lead the Pelham Panthers to a winning season adn a first-round play-off appearance that year.  From Pelham, Coach Shores became the defensive coordinator at Spain Park High School, under John Grass.  In 2007, Shores defense aided the Jaguars to reaching the 6A FInals where they would fall short to Prattville (ranked #3 in nation) 14-0.  In his first 2 seasons as head coach (2008-09), Shores' teams went 4-6 and 10-3 in arguably the toughest region in the state.
Coach Shores is married to Carrie Shores.


Wayne Lee



This is Coach Lee's 3rd year at Pell City High School.   He came from Pinson Valley High School after 10 years as Head Coach/Athletic Director.  He was at McAdory High School for 2 years.  Coach Lee spent 8 years at Jacksonville State University as an assistant Coach, winning a National Championship.  
Coach Lee Graduated from Jacksonville State University and is a 1983 Graduate of Oxford High School.
Coach Lee is married to Coach Jennifer Lee and has 2 sons, Trey and Adam.

Del Hufford




This is Coach Hufford's first year at Pell City High School.  He came from Oak Mountain High School, where he coached from 2009 to 2011.  From 2007-2009, he was at Foley High School.  He coached at Hoover High School from 2005 to 2007.  Prior to Hoover, Coach Hufford was at Moody High School from 2000 to 2005.  He began coaching at Bensalem High School in Pennsylvania from 1998 to 1999.
Coach Hufford is a graduate of Harry S. Truman High School in Levittown, PA and Kutztown University, PA.
Coach Hufford has 4 children, Magen, Ashlyn, Payton and Kolby and 1 grandchild, Karson.

Rodney Bivens, Jr.



Coach Bivens will be entering his 1st year with the Panther Football Program.  Coach comes to Pell City after spending the past 2 seasons as the Spain Park High School Varsity Wide Receivers Coach.  Coach Bevins led the receiving corps to over 4,200 receiving yards and 37 TDs in 2 seasons. 
Before beginning his coaching career, Bivens played quarterback under Coach Watson Brown and Neil Callaway at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2005 to 2008 and at the University of North Alabama from 2004 to 2005.  He was also a three-sport athlete at Central-Tuscaloosa High School and a three year starter at quarterback from 2001 to 2003.
Coach Bivens was an honors graduate student within the Minority Teachers Education Program in the Masters in Secondary Education Program at the University of Montevallo with a concentration in Social Sciences.  He also received a B.A. degree from UAB in December 2008 from the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences with a major in Sociology and minor in Health Education.  Coach Bevins spent time growing up in Anniston and Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Newnan, Georgia. 
He has 3 sisters, 1 brother and is the son of Rodney and Connie Bivens.

Brooks Dampeer



The 2011 season marks Coach Dampeer's first season at Pell City High School.  Before joining the Panther staff, Dampeer served as the Offensive Coordinator at Spain Park High School since 2009.  While at Spain Park, he helped lead the Jaguars to back to back playoff appearances.
Prior to Spain Park, Coach Dampeer was the Offensive Coordinator at Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas.  Before ICC, he served as student assistant and graduate assistant at the University of North Alabama.  In 2008, he coached Harlon Hill Finalist, quarterback, A.J. Milwee.  Dampeer coached 3 seasons at UNA (2005, 2006 and 2008) with an overall record of 34-6, including one Gulf South Conference Championship in 2006 adn 2 National Semifinalist appearances.  In 2007, he coached wide receivers at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, Mississippi.
Dampeer earned a BS in Physical Education in 2007 and a Master of Education in 2010 from the University of North Alabama. 
Coach Dampeer is married to the former Emily Steen of Corinth, Mississippi.





Bubba Roberts



Coach Roberts has been a varsity defensive line coach since 2004.  He has coached at Pell City for 23 years, coaching Junior high to varsity.
Coach Roberts graduated from Pell City High School in 1988.  He was a varsity starter as a noseguard/line backer from 1985-1987.   In 1987, he was named to the USA Today All-American, The Birmingham News 1st Team All-State, Defensive Player of the year, Defensive Lineman of the year and MVP.
Coach Roberts is married to Melody Roberts.  They have 5 children, Cody, Bryson, Taylor, Morgan and Chloe.


Jake HIbbs




This is Coach Hibbs first season at Pell City High School.  Hibbs comes from Hoover High School, where he was Assistant Football Coach and Head Assistant Basketball Coach from 2010 to 2011.   Prior to Hoover, Hibbs was Assistant Football Coach, Assistant then Head Basketball Coach and Head Golf Coach  from 2006 to 2010 at Moody High School.  Coach Hibbs began his coaching career at Pelham High School as an Assistant Football, Basketball and Golf Coach from 2005 to 2006.
Coach Hibbs graduated from Pell City High School in 2000.  He was a four year letter in football, basketball and golf.  He attended Auburn University and graduated in the spring 2005 with a BS in Mathematics Education.
Coach Hibbs is married to Sara Hibbs.  They have a daughter.
